In this second instalment of the series we follow Black Royce (sometimes known as Rory) whom we first met in Dark seduction as Malcolm's 800 year old Uncle. He first meets up with Allie Monroe when he is sent forward through time to 2007 to protect her. She is a healer, and it is feared a demon named Moffat may be trying to find her to use her to heal his own demon warriors. The time travelling Royce takes her to Carrick castle, which has been his home for centuries. However, the next day when Allie awakes, she finds a different Royce, an older version, almost 600 years older to be exact, even though to her it has been only one night. He tells her that he has waited 577 years to have this night and they spend the next 24 hours falling head over heals in love. Until Moffat turns up and kills him that is...Distraught, Allie insists Aiden, another master, take her back to 1430, to the time of the younger Royce she met the first night, to try and warn him and to help him kill Moffat so that the events of 2007 don't unfold the way they just did. Unfortunately, younger Royce is not anywhere near as pleased to see her as she'd hoped. He had intentionally gone back to his own time without her her because he knew he could not allow himself to care for anyone at this time. His main priority is to the gods and protecting the innocents. He decided that night, that perhaps in the year 2007, when there seemed to be much less battling and warfare happening in the world, he could allow himself to enjoy her for a short time, but that for now, he had no place in his life for such a tempting female.Allie has to work hard for Royce's love. She tells him repeatedly that she loves him, almost to the point where you want to tell her to have a bit of pride, but he can read her thought's anyway so there would be no way of hiding the fact even if she wanted to. He is determined, almost to the point of cruelty, to stop her attempts. It is not until he fears he has lost her for good that he finally realizes he can't live without her.
