The Demon Librarian

Warning to all readers: A mind once expanded can never return to its original dimensions. #trufax Website: http://www.thedemonlibrarian.com/ My name is Lynsey. I am an avid reader. My favourite genres are Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, and the occasional Historical or Romantic mystery. I currently have around 30-40 series on the go, and am constantly feeding my TBR monster. It's an addiction, what can I say? Anyway. Happy reading, everyone! ☆.•°*”˜˜”*°•.¸☆ ♥ ☆¸.•°*”˜˜”*°•.¸☆

Trouble with Highlanders

The Trouble With Highlanders - Mary Wine This is a DNF review.I'm afraid I didn't care for this one nearly as much as the first book I read from this author. There was a sex scene before the first 50 pages were up which felt way too soon and left me completely unmoved because there were no feelings involved at all, least of all love. The characters had already been together previously in the book prior to this one which I'd read, but it didn't help with my connection to the characters at all, unfortunately. And the hero is a known womaniser, which is another pet peeve of mine. (Why do women enjoy reading about such men? I don't understand the appeal. They should be avoided at all costs if you ask me, both in real life and in fiction). I also did not appreciate the way he made her leave her home by announcing to everyone that she'd slept with him, thereby shaming her in front of her entire clan, and giving him the right to take her away in case she was pregnant. Pig.Because I'd enjoyed the first book I read by Mary Wine, I went way past my usual stopping time with a book I'm not enjoying. Made it to precisely half way. Then asked myself the all-important question, "do I care what happens next?" The answer, sadly, was no.ARC provided by the publisher for an honest review.
